Universitas Dirgantara Marsekal Suryadarma (Unsurya), February 28, 2020 – Following the heavy rain that hit several regions in Indonesia in the early hours of February 25, some areas were flooded. One such area was Rawajati, Pancoran Subdistrict, South Jakarta, where floodwaters reached up to 70 cm and remained for two days—some areas were still submerged on the third day.
Recognizing the urgent need for basic necessities such as clothing, food, and shelter, on Wednesday, February 27, 2020, the Student Association of the Information Systems and Informatics Management Department (HMJ SIMI), in collaboration with students from all faculties of Universitas Dirgantara Marsekal Suryadarma, organized a fundraising initiative for the flood victims in Rawajati, Pancoran, South Jakarta. The location was chosen due to its proximity to the university and the significant number of affected residents in need of assistance.
The fundraising effort began by collecting donations from Unsurya students and staff, followed by setting up a donation collection post at the Cawang traffic light in East Jakarta.
The funds and goods collected were immediately distributed to flood victims later that evening to help meet their urgent needs.
Representing the affected residents, a community member formally received the aid collected by the HMJ SIMI Social Service Team, with the hope that it would be used wisely and bring relief to those in need.
